Shamcey Supsup in Miss Universe 2011 Q&A Portion

I believe most of the time, the beautiful and talented women of the Miss Universe Top 5's fate depends on their answer to the judge's question. If not, a greater portion of it. It is very evident to the crowned 1969 Miss Universe Gloria Diaz and the 4^th Runner-up 2010 Miss Universe Venus Raj.

This year, the 2011 Miss Universe, our Shamcey Supsup did great in the Q&A portion. I haven't watched the beauty pageant yet, but from what I have read from the comments, a lot were thinking that she deserves the crown than Ms. Angola for she outwitted the other contestants with her answer.

Shamcey was asked if she would change her religion to marry someone she loves. She proudly answered, I believe without hesitation, 'No' - “I would not change my religion because, first of all, I love my God who created me and if that person truly loves me, he must also love my God.”

Brave. Outstanding. Indeed, her answer do standout. I am proud of her for her achievement in the recently concluded pageant. But if I were to answer that same question, same as her, I would answer the question proudly and without hesitation. But unlike her answer, my response would be 'Yes.'

No offense to anyone. And I am not even trying to bring her down. Let's just say that her answer is, well, the answer that anyone would say if it does not really entail crossing the bridge. I mean, probably, she is not really facing such situation that answering that question seem to be straightforward. But for someone like me who is on that same bridge, it somehow took a considerable time for me to think things over.

My Story

It has been a decade now since I have been into a relationship with someone who is of different religion than I am. I am a Roman Catholic since birth, and he is an Evangelical Christian. Honestly, since I am groomed as a Catholic and have never been acquainted with someone of different religion, I always thought that everyone is like me, a Catholic - until he came.

While he was still courting me, I remember a friend asked me if I am going to give my 'yes' to him knowing that he's not Catholic. And I can still vividly picture in my mind what my answer was - a brave 'Yes' followed by "I'll cross the bridge if I get there." Indeed, I was never really bothered of our differences at that time. Maybe I was young and is spiritually immature to face such dilemmas. Maybe I was skeptic. But that was history.

I guess it was around after three (3) years of being in a relationship when I finally decided, somehow cross the bridge, on what I should reply to my friends who would ask, "Paano 'yun? Magkaiba kayo ng relihiyon?"

My not so elaborate answer is, it'll be alright because we are worshiping and praying One God. I mean, we may have different religious beliefs, but both our faith were based on The Holy Bible, and we are both worshiping God the Father. I may have dumbfounded them for a while, but I failed to silence them. Their follow-up question becomes, "Eh paano kapag ikakasal na kayo?"

Now, that question is very similar to what Shamcey Supsup just answered. But we are on a different setting. She is on a scenario where she should answer to please the judges. For me, I am on a scenario where I would decide on my future. And I had made up my mind. Yes, I would change my religion to marry the person I love.

There are many underlying factors why I had bravely answered that question, but let me give you one of them.

It is true that before we can serve and love God, we have to know Him first. With my angel allowing me to attend their Sunday Service and Bible Study, I was able to develop a deeper relationship with God. Yes, I know I can have the same result even without being involved with another religion; but that is the path that God wanted me to travel. And I am happy I crossed the bridge with a steadfast spirit.

Knowing God will still take a long way for me, but at least I already started with my simple steps; and I have to thank my angel for leading me the way.

Yes, I would change my religion to marry the person I love for as long as he will lead me closer to The One True God. At the end of my days, God won't ask me what my religion was; but He will ask me if I had obeyed His commandments.

So, will I also make it to the 3^rd runner-up? Just kidding.

Congratulations Shamcey Supsup! You had made every Filipino proud.

Sleepless in Seattle is a 1993 film that combines comedy, romance, and drama. It starred Tom Hanks (Samuel Baldwin) and Meg Ryan (Annie Reed).

The movie is about a man, Samuel Baldwin, who lost his wife and had been so much affected by it. Well, who won't? However, he was consumed by this loss to the point that his son, Jonah Baldwin, had to talk a radio station (Sleepless in Seattle) to have a Christmas wish of finding a partner for his dad.

I love this movie. Following are the points I want to raise:

When Sam was asked by the radio's to DJ to say what makes his wife special, his uberly sweet answer is: "Well, how long is your program?"
Sam and Annie believed in the magic of love. Sam confessed that it was really like magic that you know that you were meant for each other. Well, I have to admit too that I believe in the magic of love. It is really like magic how my angel and I met. I had prayed for him. He is God's answer to my prayer. ♥
Passionate kissing and nudity does not necessarily contribute to a film's success. Most likely, this movie is not injected with these substances because it was not hip at that time (1993). But despite its absence, I still love the movie and it had been a successful movie.

Notting Hill

Notting Hill is a 1999 comedy-romance movie that starred Julia Roberts (Anna Scott, a very famous film star) and Hugh Grant (William Thacker, a simple bookshop owner).

For me, the movie showed how a famous film star would want to live a simple life and be loved for who she is - not for what she is. I guess almost everyone in the showbiz industry are facing such dilemma. Well, that is the price they have to pay for their popularity. Anna Scott's character when she was with William Thacker showed the real Anna - carefree, childlike, and wants to be loved.

William Thacker, on the other hand, is a simple bookshop owner who is also in search for true love. He is the type of guy that does not take advantage (as shown when Anna kissed him, he did not kiss her back). He showed respect to Anna; which I guess made her fall more in love. Probably she has not felt that kind of respect in the world she is living in when she is a star.

Anna Scott mingling with William Thacker's family showed how a simple life could provide genuine happiness. Being rich and famous definitely are not vital ingredients of happiness.

Notting Hill seem to me a modern fairytale wherein the prince is not a man with shining armor; but a man of true love and respect. Although there were some parts of the film which makes me not to pay attention, I can still say that this is definitely something worth watching.

My favorite line:

Anna Scott: Can I stay for a while?
William: You can stay forever.

Never Been Kissed

This movie, Never Been Kissed, is recommended by my friend. Since I'm a big fan of Drew Barrymore-Adam Sandler movies, I thought, let me give this a try. I'm glad I did.

Never Been Kissed is a 1999 movie that starred Drew Barrymore as Josie Geller. Josie is a 25 year old journalist who undercover as a 17 year old senior high school student in her alma mater as part of her research of her story. It is a comedy, drama, and romance all in one movie.

In some way, Josie's observation still applies to the youth of today. There are still nerds who just needs to be understood; beauty queen wanna bes who will intimidate you and make you feel unpretty; and a whole bunch of high school stuffs you would just laugh at as you mature.

Anyway, this film got its title for Josie believed that:

That thing, that moment, when you kiss someone and everything around becomes hazy and the only thing in focus is you and this person and you realize that that person is the only person that you're supposed to kiss for the rest of your life, and for one moment you get this amazing gift and you want to laugh and you want to cry because you feel so lucky that you found it and so scared that that it will go away all at the same time.

And for that, she haven't kissed anyone, a real kiss for that matter. Hence, Never Been Kissed. Oh, I believe the film deserved to be watched for you to find out how Josie finally got that real kiss. That's A-romantic! I like it!

NBA Philippines 3-on-3 2011 is a Success

NBA had a very good decision of bringing 3-on-3 in the Philippines. What can you expect from a country that has great passion at basketball? A successful NBA Philippines 3-on-3 transpires last July 1-3, 2011. Thanks to all the sponsors, specially to Sprite, for bringing this event together with NBA Legend Horace Grant in our country.

Jr. NBA kids, Metro Manila and Zamboanga streetball players are big winners of first-ever NBA 3-on-3 Tournament

Jr. NBA Philippines players dominated the 13-and-under and 15-and-under age divisions of the NBA 3-on-3 Philippines presented by Sprite which wrapped up its first ever tournament in the country and in the ASEAN region Sunday, July 3 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.

A total of 112 teams in seven divisions – some from Palawan and Zamboanga -- experienced the NBA’s newest activity in the country, envisioned to be a yearly tournament that will eventually evolve into a pan-ASEAN competition.

The Fighting Irish from the Notre Dame School of Greater Manila in Caloocan led by 4’7 tall Jr. NBA alumnus Juan Carlo Garcia defeated St. Augustine of Manila in a tightly fought contest, with the diminutive Garcia wowing even NBA Legend and 4-Time NBA champion Horace Grant with his sneaky plays and accurate shooting.

Team Fighting Irish led by 4’7 tall, Jr. NBA alumnus Juan Carlo Garcia (2nd from left) of Notre Dame School of Greater Manila in Caloocan defeated St. Augustine of Manila to bag the 13-and-under championship of the NBA 3-on-3 Philippines 2011 presented by Sprite.

The 3-on-3 team from Sacred Heart Academy-Ateneo de Cebu meanwhile gave their opponents, the IRS of Metro Manila a taste of teamwork and domination as Jr. NBA All-Star players Patrick Nigel Go and Dawn Ochea alongside teammates Julius Cadavis and Dave Wilson Yu used team chemistry and smarts to score 19-5 in the finals of their age division.

A gathering of champions from all divisions of the NBA 3-on-3 Philippines 2011 presented by Sprite less the 15-and-under division winner Sacred Heart Academy - Ateneo de Cebu who had an early flight back to Cebu.

Under-17 players from Guadalupe Nuevo (Kalye Capaz), played street basketball at its finest to defeat the Angry Birds of Marikina City, 10-8, in a rugged contest that showed who rules the streets in their respective neighborhoods.

19-and-under Pasigueños who called themselves Cyberville relied on superior heft and power to lead from start to finish behind the heroics of Charlie Bolano, Julius Mark Pinili, Ronnie Anguilero and Khristian Martin Fajardo and defeated Bad Genie of Las Piñas.

The CSB Blazers of the College of St. Benilde – Tanya dela Merced, Jazmin Rachel Benito, Jane Sarah Alcabaza and Jennefer Mayol – scored 15-6 over the University of the Philippines-Manila’s UP Boleras with moves worthy of their championship trophy in the Girls Division.

In the VIP Division, the Tigers playing with the fizz of PBA talents Kenneth Duremdes, Ronjay Enrile, MC Caceres and Gerard Francisco out-duelled the gritty team from Marriott Manila. The Pakitang Gilas Team made up of sports writers Cedelf Tupas, Jae Bolando, Jerome Lagunzad and Reuben Terrado had earlier topped their division but forfeited their championship game to cover the Azkals World Cup qualifier against Sri Lanka at nearby Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

The Coca Cola Legends Team led by ex-PBA player Kenneth Duremdes won the championship in the VIP Division by defeating Marriott Hotel, 19-4, at the NBA 3-on-3 Philippines 2011 presented by Sprite.

But it was Zamboanga that scored big in the NBA 3-on-3 as Zamboangueños Rolando Navarro, Jomie Alvarez, David Sebastian and Alvin Munio defeated Alpha from Manila, 17-15, in overtime in the Open Division.

The Open Division Champion, Team Zamboanga - composed of Jomie Alvarez, Rolando Navarro, Alvin Munio, and David Sebastian flew all the way from Mindanao and defeated Team Alpha from Manila, 17-15, in overtime.

Scott Levy, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of NBA Asia said “The Philippines is really the perfect place to launch this event because of the country’s rich culture and passion for basketball. This event has given more people who play basketball an opportunity to experience the highs and excitement of the sport and get further involved in the game. We expect this to be an annual competition.”

When NBA 3-on-3 Philippines 2011 presented by Sprite comes to town on July 1 to 3, expect a lot of high-kicking, explosive, high energy performances from the New York Knicks City Dance Team – the girls who energize the New York Knicks NBA team and bring the fan experience at Madison Square Garden to a real high.

The girls headline the list of NBA celebrities who will open the first-ever NBA 3-on-3 basketball tournament to be staged in the ASEAN region alongside NBA Legend, 4-time NBA champion and All Star Horace Grant who played alongside Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant with the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Cars is a 2006 animation movie about a rookie race-car named Lightning McQueen. It already has its second installment, Car 2 (2011), which I dearly wanted to watch after having viewed this one earlier. Yes, I am not that movie buff before that today is the only time I was able to watch this film.

I never really imagined that this movie will make me cry. But yes, I maybe am a tear-jerker of sort.

This maybe filmed for children, but this is a must see for us young at hearts as well. Though I find the beginning of the movie kinda boring, I was never lulled to sleep. And the movie interests me during Lightning's stay at Radiator Springs. It is the place where he learned the importance of friendship and winning. Being a rookie race-car who is competing for the Piston Cup, he did everything just to get out of that place. But as the days passed by, it had been his training ground to achieve his goal.

Come tournament, Lightning made me cry. When he has all the time and chance in the world to grab that most coveted Piston Cup trophy, he stopped to help The King finish his last race. Really, there's more to life than just winning.

Doc Hudson: When was the last time you cared about something except yourself, hot rod? You name me one time, and I will take it all back.

Legally Blonde 2

Those who were able to watch Legally Blonde (2001) will surely anticipate watching Legally Blonde 2 (2003) - myself included. I really love the way Reese Witherspoon portrayed Elle Woods in this movie; hence, I don't let the chance pass by me to watch this chic movie.

What I love about this movie, Woods in particular, is how she carries herself elegantly even though as if she is someone to make "fun" of by the people around her. The way she makes a stand for something she believes in is another factor to make me love her character.

Another thumbs up in this movie is the character of Emmett (Luke Wilson) who is a very supporting would-be better half of Woods. And let me quote:

Emmett: Elle I don't care where I marry just as long as I do. I do... I do... feels good.

BUT, I have to admit, I love the first installment more than this one.

My verdict: 4/5

Unthinkable

Unthinkable is a 2010 film that starred Samuel Jackson (H) and Carrie-Ann Moss (Agent Brody). The movie focuses on how the FBI could make the suspect (Michael Sheen as Steven Arthur Younger) talk and tell them where he had placed three nuclear weapons that is set to detonate in three cities in United States.

I'm a fan of such action-thriller movies; hence, the onset of this movie captured my attention.

In order for Younger to speak, H is torturing him - started by cutting the tips of his fingers one by one up to actions that are "Unthinkable" - which Agent Brody cannot stand. The torturing goes on and I become a li'l bored. It is not an action-thriller movie that I thought it is. It is a drama-thriller film.

For me, the movie seem to lack that action ingredient which I guess is essential to it's theme. At the same time, the ending of the movie seem to be hanging, or probably it is the writer's intention - to make the viewers think of what happened next. But it is not that effective to me. It just makes me think that the FBI failed their mission.

I cannot recommend that this is a must see movie. But if I have to rate this, I can give it 3/5.

After watching Bourne Trilogy, I had become a fan of Matt Damon. But it ends and begins with that trilogy. I am not an all-knowing fan with regard to his movies. In fact, I sometime mis-recognize him in Mark Wahlberg movies, LOL! Well, I had watched Green Zone (but is not satisfied with the movie; I just finished the film for it starred him), and just recently, I had indulged with his newest film - Hereafter.

The movie is centered to three characters that had met death in three different ways. In the end, they were able to meet each other in several circumstances. To be honest, I don't find the movie entertaining. Yes, I do believe with hereafter - that there's life after death. But, I just don't like the movie that much.

But if I really had to pick a good point from the movie, it'll be the relationship between Jason and Marcus (the twin brothers). A tear fall down from my cheeks when Marcus was able to talk to Jason through George (Matt Damon). Other than that, I cannot really recommend this one. So sorry Matt. I guess you need to change your mind and accept the upcoming project for Jason Bourne.

I will always remember Liam Neeson for his movie Taken. In fact, I had rated it 5/5. Thus, when I heard of his new movie, Unknown, I become excited to watch it.

Last night, I had the spare time to watch it. I planned to just watch half of the movie and continue watching the following day. But with the thrill that the movie contains, I find myself watching the movie in full.

Unknown is a 2011 movie starring Liam Neeson. It is about a man who wakes up from a coma and discovered that someone has taken on his identity. Worse, no one believes in him - even his wife.

So, what are the good points about the movie? Almost everything. It should be. Otherwise, I should have stopped watching halfway of the movie last night. However, similar to the movie Taken, I believe it could have a much nicer and suitable ending.

My verdict: 5/5

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I

I missed watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I last year (November 2010) for I am busy working on my documents for my work here at Singapore. Good thing, I was able to watch it last night with my housemates; but I was disappointed with the film.

Well, of course the movie still has its good points, but overall, it was a very slow paced movie that I find it boring in some parts of the film. Nevertheless, I understand what Deathly Hallows is, LOL!

I am into the story, itself, not the movie as a whole. I love how Dobby had been very helpful to Harry Potter. I very much love his line:

Dobby [dying]: What a beautiful place... to be with friends.

Can't help myself but laugh when Harry and Hermione is dancing. The music is so cool to the ears. And I love their dance moves. Definitely, one of the best parts of the movie.

Isn't it lovely? The music and the dance perfectly fits.

Just what the comment of one of my housemates, this Part I seem to be a very long trailer of the Part II. Will I still be watching the Part II even though I am disappointed with Part I? YES. I will, because I guess the best part of Deathly Hallows is in Part II. See the trailer below.

Faith Like Potatoes

I was about to watch Season of the Witch (Nicolas Cage) but found out that my copy is not working properly. Instead, I watch Faith Like Potatoes which is next in my list.

Faith Like Potatoes (2009) is another Christian movie that I had watched, adding up to my list of Fireproof, Facing the Giants, and Flywheel. It is a true story based in the life of Angus Buchan, a farmer and pastor whose life changed the moment he put his trust, 100%, on our Lord.

Good points of the movie:

I love the way it is portrayed how Buchan trusted God in the midst of the fire in the farm. It really seem to be a hopeless case. Probably that's why tears fall down my face when it rained.
When the boy died of the accident, I love how Buchan's daughter comforted him and told him not to be guilty, for it was just an accident.
I love the passion of Buchan to share his story and how his life changed because he had offered his life to God.

Downside of the movie:

Since the setting is in Africa, most of the language used to communicate with the townsfolk were in African dialect. There's no subtitle (for my copy); hence, I just tried to understand the movie from their gestures.

And why is it entitled Faith Like Potatoes? Because like potatoes, our growth of our faith is unseen - until the harvest.

The Hangover 2 - Official Trailer

I had stumbled about this trailer in my Facebook Most Recent feed, and I am looking forward at watching it.

I had watched the first installment of this movie, and I enjoyed it. Probably a 3.5/5 rating. From the trailer, it seems that it is having the same storyline as that of the first, only a different adventure. From what I remember in the first film, the boys go out for an adventure before the wedding of their friend. Unfortunately, upon waking up in the morning, they cannot remember anything. Their room seem to be chaotic. And worse, the husband-to-be is missing.

On their quest to find their friend... this is something that you need to discover by watching the film. Go ahead. It'll give you a good laugh. As for me, I'll be waiting for The Hangover 2. *wink*

Facing the Giants

From the director of Fireproof comes another movie that is life changing ~ Facing the Giants. At the end of the film, you'll feel a great relief in you heart despite all the problems that you are facing. Yes, face your giants. And always believe that "Nothing is Impossible with God" (Matthew 19:26).

This movie is a must watch. And allow me to list the points that I really love about the film. But foremost, here's a trailer of the movie.

"I Love You"
These words seem to be enough for Coach Taylor to be relieved and accept all the challenges that he is currently facing. And these words comes from the mouth of his loving wife. I am imagining myself saying those words to my angel and eventually erases a frown in his face and replacing it with smile and hope. *sweet*
"You can't be afraid of failure"
If there's someone that I can so much relate to in this movie, it'll be David. Like David, I feel inferior. I hardly believe myself that I can do this or that. I am afraid of failure. Good thing he has a father that kept on encouraging him. I am blessed that I have God who kept on encouraging me.
"What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name." ~ Revelations 3:7-8
If I am right, the old man that reads this passage to Coach Taylor is blind. This passage really encouraged coach to give his best shot. We all should learn that the door that God had opened for us, no one can shut.
"Don't quit till you've got nothing left"

Coach Taylor tests Brock's willingness to give his very best in this drill. I felt like I am Brock and Coach Taylor is God. He wanted me to give all my best. But in most of the way, I felt like quitting, giving up. I should not. I should not.
"I will still love you Lord"
I admire how Brooke Taylor accepts the fact that she cannot have children. And what's more admirable is the way she tells God that she still love God even if she will not have any children. It is inspiring and should be imitated by most couples who are not blessed with children. In anyway, we all should love God with or without children.
"As long as we are on God, nothing is impossible"
This is the spirit. Since the Shiloh Eagles were about to face the giants, the undefeated football team, Coach Taylor encourages his team by saying that with God, nothing is impossible. At the same time, he told his team that win or lose, they will praise God. And whatever they do in the field, they will offer everything to God. I bet, when each and everyone of us performs our duties with that in mind (working for God and not for anybody else), stress won't come our way.
Lastly, my favorite part, "Your job is to do the best that you can and leave the results up to God"
This is what Coach Taylor told David before his crucial kick. Believing that you won't make it even before trying will surely give you failure. But believing that you can do it, giving it your best shot, whether you are successful or not, there won't be any regret ~ because you did your best.

There are still a number of things that is really worth reflecting in this movie. Like how Coach Hawkins encourages David to kick the ball straight to the goal. Everything is written in the scriptures, in the Holy Bible.

After watching the movie, and after crying for most parts of the film, I find myself smiling and thanking God for every blessing that He had bestowed upon me. To God be the glory!

Letters to Juliet

I watched Letters to Juliet last night. My tears voluntarily fall as Claire found Lorenzo after 50 long years.

I love this movie more than Eat Pray Love. This is a typical love story with a happy ending. And it makes me wanna go to Verona someday. But no, I won't be writing any letter to Juliet for I already found my Romeo. I just wanted to visit places with my Romeo *wink*

As always, I won't story-tell the movie here in my post. I would just be giving it with a rating of 4/5 and share with you the scenes I love in the movie:

When Claire is brushing Sophie's hair and tells her, "One of the great joys in life is having one's hair brushed." Indeed, it is. And I bet Sophie missed a lot of those joys for her mother left her when she was 9. I was so blessed to have my mother brushing my hair even at my age.
When Charlie and Sophie are stargazing. No, I don't like it that they kissed. Sophie's engaged! I just love the poem that they had recited.
Doubt thou stars are fire
Doubt that the sun doth move
Doubt truth be a liar
But never doubt I love
When Claire finally found her Lorenzo, I love their conversation:
Claire: I'm sorry I'm late
Lorenzo: When we speak about love, it's never too late
And of course, the letter that say's it all, I love Sophie's reply to Claire's letter to Juliet.
In addition, I love the soundtrack of the movie, "You Got Me" by Colbie Caillat. My favorite line is my current status in my social sites ~ "My heart is filled with you"

What I don't like about the movie is how Charlie and Sophie fell in love with each other. Well, it would be great if Sophie isn't engaged. I know Victor could be that occupied with his new restaurant, but it is still heartbreaking. Honestly, I had not focused on Charlie and Sophie's love story. I'm more interested of Claire and Lorenzo's.

Nonito Donaire vs Fernando Montiel

There are a couple of things that I would love to blog about. First was about Blake Griffin in the 2011 NBA All Star Dunk Contest. Second was about my new favorite song ~ Something Right by Westlife. However, Nonito Donaire's fight against Fernando Montiel is something that I would not want to miss. Here's a clip of what happened in round 2 last February 20, 2011.

If I remember it right, Donaire forecast a technical knock out by round 6. But he did it in round 2. I am that proud to be a Filipino. But I must admit that I am somewhat concern for Montiel's condition. I cannot stand watching him after that left hook by Donaire. I hope all is well with him.

Anyhow, congratulations to us Filipinos. And allow me to brag this picture of me with the "Filipino Flash"...

I haven't been watching movies lately. See my reason here. The last movie that I saw was Tron: Legacy which I never really enjoyed that much. If not for the 3D effects, I would have not be satisfied. So what can I share? I looked into my previous posts and saw Rajon Rondo's dunk against the Miami Heat. Well, he never ceases to impress me for they just beat Heat for the third time earlier with a score of 85-82 with him getting a triple double. Anyhow, I prefer not to post about it. Since it is Valentine's Day today, and that I am on senti mode since I am far from my family, I would love to share my 'as of the moment' favorite song: Safe by Westlife.

Isn't the song lovely? Just a note, my favorite among the band members is Mark Feehily. And my favorite lines from the song are:

Parking Lot

While almost everyone is getting addicted to role playing games (RPG), I satisfy myself with simple puzzle games that are mind-boggling at the same time. Let me say that I am just not fascinated with RPGs. Merely looking at the monitor of someone playing such is already making me dizzy. Well yes, I do have an exception for RPGs. I had played and enjoyed Starcraft.

Anyhow, I had downloaded several FREE puzzle games on my iTouch and enjoyed it every once in a while. What I enjoyed best is the game ‘Parking Lot’, and so is the title of this post.

Parking Lot puzzle game is similar to the Unblock game. Only, you will be entertained with the cars, ha ha. The main goal of this game is to allow the car to pass through the exit. To reach the goal, you have to make the cars that are blocking its way. But, the catch here is you could only move a car toward its direction. And to give spice to the game, you should aim at attaining the goal in the least number of moves.

Sometimes, when the level is loaded with cars, I can’t help but remember the poor transportation of the Philippines. No wonder why car insurance is badly needed.

Rajon Rondo's Dunk Against the Heat

I can’t help myself but be amazed of this video. This is the second meeting of the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat. This time, it is at Miami’s place. I simply love how Rajon Rondo gracefully dunks the leather making his defender left in awe.

What makes this play, and even the game, itself, sweeter is their victory over the most anticipated NEW Big Three of the National Basketball Association (NBA). To give you a background, well in 1998 (I suppose), Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce team up together for the Boston Celtics and had gain the name ‘Big Three’. And in their first suit up, they had their hands on the much coveted championship trophy at the end of the season. This time around, a new Big Three had been brewed for the Miami Heat, namely: Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, and LeBron James (the most controversial among the three). With this team up, a lot had been saying that they would be able to do what the ORIGINAL Big Three has done. But I guess, to Miami Heat’s fans’ dismay, they already fall twice to Boston’s Big Three. Most probably, they are not yet ripe for a championship. I do hope that it would be another banner (Banner 18) for the Celtics and let the Heat’s Big Three develop their chemistry first.

Anyhow, going back to the graceful dunk of Rondo, I don’t know how to react with the way he falls after the grace. It definitely looks like he is not hurt. But it just shows you how injury prone basketball could be. I now wonder how much life insurance rate could be for these athletes that are prone to accidents. Any idea?

What I love about the provincial buses that I am riding at everyday is that they have entertainment in the form of a TV show or a movie. One night, after joining the Coca-Cola Caravan, the bus that I get to ride is showing a familiar movie that I’d love to watch over again – Taken.

It is a movie about a former spy, Bryan Mills, whose daughter, Kim, had been forced into the slave trade in her travel to Paris with her friend Amanda. Using only the information that his daughter was able to give him in around 10 seconds before she was caught by the human traffickers, he promised one thing to the gang, and let me quote:

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.

Now, I won’t story tell how in the world did Bryan get his daughter back (if he really does get her back). That’s for you to find out. As for me, I guess I need to finish the film for I have to get off the bus just when the movie is on its climax. Sigh. Good thing though, I need not to get payday loans just to watch this movie again. I got my copy. *wink* *wink*

For my rating, this one’s highly recommended. A perfect 5/5 will do to encourage you all to watch.

Let Me In

Last November 9, 2010, my angel and I watched the premier night of “Let Me In” at SM Megamall Cinema 2.

The movie is about a 12-year old boy named Owen who is bullied by his classmates. To make it worse, his parents are separated and are currently working on their divorce. He lived a lonely life.

One day, an old man together with seem-to-be his daughter moved in as Owen’s neighbor. The girl is strange for she is walking barefooted despite the snow.

Owen and the girl, Abby, become friends and seem to develop a romantic love for each other. With that friendship, Owen seems to find meaning in his life. He is no longer bothered with the bullying of his classmates for he knows there’s someone who can understand him – Abby.

But he was shocked one night when he discovered how the angelic face of Abby turned into a vampire that thirsts for blood. Although Abby was able to control herself and did not hurt him; she still has to kill innocent people just satisfy her thirst.

Of course, Owen’s initial reaction was to push her away. But I guess the love and security that he felt when Abby is around surpasses the reality that she is evil.

What happened to Abby’s father and Owen’s classmates? That’s for you to find out if you wanted to pursue the film. As for me, I am really not into this kind of movies. In fact, I would have not watched it if it’s not for free, LOL! But I got to ask, why does Abby needs to sleep? Isn’t she a vampire? She’s not a creature that turned into a monster when hermle clocks strike twelve similar to old-style horror movies that I had seen. Moreover, she hates sunlight for it will burn her alive; while vampires in Twilight sparks like diamonds when exposed to sunlight. Ha ha ha, silly questions I have, I know. Anyway, if I’ll rate the movie, oh, forgive me, but I’ll give it 1/5.

You Again Premier

Since I won movie premier tickets of "You Again", I grab that opportunity to have that quality time with my angel. Around 5:30PM or so, we headed on our way to SM Megamall, Cinema 6. I do as directed, and poof! I got my two You Again premier tickets.

We still got ample time, the movie will start by 7:30PM; hence, we had our dinner first at the food court. We enjoyed our bowl of hot hot lugaw from Goto King. Then, we go back to Cinema 6 to fall in line.

While in queue

Upon entrance in the cinema, sponsors generously gave us sample of their products. I got a box and a sachet of Myra products from UNILAB.

It is quite some time before the program began. It was hosted by three lovely deejays of Mellow94.7.

Honestly, I've got no idea what the movie You Again is all about. I just read it's summary from the net and had found out that it is a story of finding out that the girl that your brother would be marrying is the one that bullied you and ruined your life back in high school. To break even, or to protect your brother (who obviously doesn't know the true color of his bride-to-be), you find ways to let her true color come out before the wedding day.

It is a comedy film that would really lighten up your heart. I had a good laugh. And there are moments wherein the audience (me included) would applaud; simply because we are entertained and are satisfied with what we are watching. It is a movie for everyone that has a lot of lessons to be learned regarding forgiveness and forgetting about the past. As for me, the movie imparted that no matter what happened to us in the past (bad or good), it provides lessons that made us reach what we have and shaped us to what we are now. Also, it shows that talking about and accepting the things that you've done wrong (accompanied with a sincere apology) would generally take away the hurt and guilt that you have in your heart (that most likely is staying with your for forever now).

This one's highly recommended. I heard that this will be showing at cinemas by November 3. Go and watch it. I still don't have a quote to share with you, so allow me to share the theme song of the couple.

Because your kiss is on my list of the best things in life.

After rendering an overtime at work yesterday, I arrived home and immediately proceed at my brother's room to watch with him Mirrors 2.

My Twitter Status

I am not really a fan of horror films, I just give it a try. At first, I feel like vomiting seeing how morbid the film was. Not to mention that I am having my dinner at that very moment. But then again, as the story goes on, I see that it's quite an interesting movie - less the morbidity.

There were moments in the movie that feels like boring; or perhaps I just don't feel like looking at the screen. It is really not that scary, it's just disgusting! But when flashbacks were provided as the main character, Max, is trying to discover the mystery behind Eleanor (the girl inside the mirror), it captured my interest.

The flashback showed that the people killed by the mirror were all involved why Eleanor died. Only, a question came up on my sister-in-law's mind on why did Max's father almost got killed too. Most likely, it is only Eleanor's way to make Max stay in his job and help her in her revenge.

The ending seem hanging. Probably they'll be cooking Mirrors 3?

I remember last weekend, I happen to watch GMA7’s Mel and Joey that featured young entrepreneurs. Their stories were really inspirational. I hope I could, at the least, start on my own too soon.

One entrepreneur, a college student, started on a simple loading business. His profit from it was then used as capital for water refilling station. And his desire to earn more does not stop there. He also now produces concerts. And yes, he’s just a college student.

Another one is a high school student, who, because of financial problems and the desire to finish his studies accepts typing jobs using an old model of computer and printer. I had also thought of such business; but I guess I just don’t have the courage and motivation like he do. On the other hand, I guess it is not yet late to start right?

The best of the featured young entrepreneurs (the one that captured my attention) was this fashion blogger who earns approximately P 100,000.00 (in kind) through her blog alone. Really, blogging can give you serious money or equivalent if you will give utmost attention to it.

With these young entrepreneurs, we were able to realize that age doesn’t matter if we really wanted to set up our own business. Luck maybe a special ingredient to be successful. But, hard work and dedication goes hand in hand with this thing called ‘luck’. Yes, you may have to read hundreds, if not thousands, of Business Articles and still fail. Just make sure to try again and ask God’s providence. If they can, you can too right?

Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

After three (3) weeks, I finally finished watching The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. This movie series is worth your time. I really salute writers who have such 'wildest' of imagination to come up with such story line.

Honestly, I think Sam was not given such honor after accomplishing their mission - of destroying The Lord of the Rings. He even made me cry when he mentioned these words:

Sam: Then let us be rid of it... once and for all! Come on, Mr. Frodo. I can't carry it for you... but I can carry you!

Sam is a friend that you'll want to be with you for the rest of your life.

After finishing The Lord of the Rings Trilogy for three consecutive weeks, my angel and I watched Salt that starred Angelina Jolie.

I am quite interested with this movie for I heard a number of great feedback. Even my brother teased me that the movie will be having a second part, with the title "Pepper", LOL!

The story line of the movie is that great. It made me wonder and it captures my attention as I try to comprehend the mystery behind Salt's 'true character'. If you haven't seen the movie yet, I suggest you stop reading by this time. This quote that I would be sharing cleared my mind.

(convincing Peabody that she is trustworthy) "Do you really think a trained Soviet agent couldn't kill the Russian President at point blank range if she wanted to? Or you, for that matter. I could have killed you at the funeral but I didn't."

It is a great movie. Worth the watch. And I do guess that there's a second installment.

Tekken

After tendering 16 hours of support last weekend in our office, I happen to watch Tekken in the bus I am riding in. I am really not a fan. In fact, I haven't played that game either. But with what I am seeing, it kept me from falling asleep. The scenes interest me that much. However, like my tale in The Karate Kid, I have to alight the bus just when the scene is already that exciting. Too bad.

Good thing though, I already had a copy of that movie in my iTouch; hence, I was able to watch the movie in full.

I have to commend the main character, Jin Kazama (portrayed by Jon Foo). He performed the role that good. Probably, he's the main reason I liked the movie. Well, yeah, this one's not suitable for children. But, you'll surely enjoy watching it.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

After watching the first installment of The Lord of the Rings (LOTR) that kept me hanging and yearning for the second book; my angel and I watched LOTR: The Two Towers last Sunday.

I like the first installment more than this one. There are moments in the film where I felt bored. Or maybe it is simply because I am having a headache. But yes, I love the fighting scenes.

If I had to pick the best scene of the movie, I'd choose the way Sam stayed loyal and helpful to Frodo. Like what Frodo had said, he should be called "Samwise the Brave".

Still, the ending is left hanging. Can't wait for the weekend to come to finally finish the film. So, I guess I'd leave you again with a quote from the film:

Frodo: I can't do this, Sam.

Sam: I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.

Frodo: What are we holding onto, Sam?

Sam: That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo... and it's worth fighting for.

Yes, I'm a late bloomer when it comes to The Lord of the Rings (LOTR) Trilogy. Forgive me, but I am really not into movies back then. So finally, my angel and I decided to take advantage of the long weekend and watched LOTR.

There are scenes that reminds me of Harry Potter. And if there's a character that I have to admire; that'll be Aragorn.

I guess there's no need for me to review this film. I am über late with it. But I have to say that I do love the movie. And I just cannot wait to watch the next two installments. Hope there'll be another long weekend in the coming weeks.

The Last Song

I really wanted to watch a movie at least once a week. And I'm glad I just did last Sunday.

I had watched The Last Song together with my angel and my niece. This movie is suggested by my bestfriend, B1. She told me that it is not a pure romantic love story but also has a touch of a father-daughter relationship; hence, I'm prepared to shed a tear watching this movie.

I believe Miley Cyrus had portrayed her role as Ronnie Miller very well. I'm seeing a bit of myself in her - no girl friends to openly talk something about. I had a lot of friends though. And yes, I had lost some too. *sigh*

Another commendable is Bobby Coleman who played as Jonah Miller, the younger brother of Ronnie. The emotions, I can really feel it from him.

Yes, I love the movie. But it did not really brought a lasting impact on me. Probably, it lacked substance. Or, I should have just read the book instead? Anyway, here's a line in Steve Miller's (Ronnie's father) letter to Ronnie.

Steve Miller: [in letter to Ronnie] Love is fragile. And we're not always its best caretakers. We just muddle through and do the best we can. And hope this fragile thing survives against all odds.

Tragic Hostage Taking in the Philippines

I can no longer post anything about the tragic hostage taking here in my country yesterday at the Quirino Grandstand. All the while, I'm hoping that it will end up without casualty, just like what happened last 2007 when a school bus with a number of kids is taken for hostage. But unfortunately, at least eight was killed in that hostage crisis.

I would like to congratulate the Alaska Aces for bagging their 13^th championship crown in the Game 6 of the PBA Fiesta Conference Finals against the highly favored San Miguel Beermen. They've just proven that chemistry is much more important than talent.

It made me remember how I supported the Alaska Milkmen back in the Johnny Abarrientos era. Yes, during that time when they play against Sunkist. And even the seasons when they have to face the crowd favorite - and defeat them. They even had grand slam back then.

Monday Morning

It's Monday morning, you want to start the week right. You left home early only to find a not so usual number of passengers waiting for the same bus that you are after to.

It was not a usual Monday morning for me. There were only few buses that passes by, and they won't pick up passengers for they were already full. I really wonder what's wrong. I am already on the point of coming back home and just file an emergency leave when a bus passes by. And no wonder, even we were able to ride the bus, it was FULLY LOADED.

Did that made me frown the whole day? Not really. I just thank God that I was able to report for work despite that unusual Monday morning scene.

Snake in the House!

What would you do if you find a snake as big as this in your house?

My uncle found one last Sunday evening.

They've got no resort but to kill the snake; otherwise, someone will be killed - either through snake bites or "lingkis".

Oh well, and here's a pose with the snake after it was killed. I am not present at the site (my uncle's house). I thought they were just referring to a usual/normal-sized snake. And I am surprised with the pictures knowing that it is twice taller than I am.

The first few scenes of Sherlock Holmes bores me. That's why I never really took the time watch it until last Saturday when one of my bestfriends (Susie) hang out in my place. She already read the book and would love to watch the movie. Thus, I give it a second chance; and surprisingly, it did not disappoint me. Actually, I am looking forward for its sequel (if there's any).

The movie actually reminds me of Angels and Demons movie. It has (almost) the same storyline (or maybe I'm a bit mistaken). Anyhow, Sherlock Holmes centers at unveiling the mystery of a black magic. It ranges from the rising from the dead to the uncovering of the mysterious death of three persons. In the end, Sherlock Holmes... I have to stop here. You go watch the movie. It's worth it.

Mga minamahal kong kababayan:

Sa bawat sandali po ng pamamahala ay nahaharap tayo sa isang sangandaan.

Sa isang banda po ay ang pagpili para sa ikabubuti ng taumbayan. Ang pagtanaw sa interes ng nakakarami; ang pagkapit sa prinsipyo; at ang pagiging tapat sa sinumpaan nating tungkulin bilang lingkod-bayan. Ito po ang tuwid na daan.

Sa unang anim na buwan ng taon, mas malaki ang ginastos ng gobyerno kaysa sa pumasok na kita. Lalong lumaki ang deficit natin, na umakyat na sa 196.7 billion pesos. Sa target na kuleksyon, kinapos tayo ng 23.8 billion pesos; ang tinataya namang gastos, nalagpasan natin ng 45.1 billion pesos.

Ang budget po sa 2010 ay 1.54 trillion pesos.

Nasa isandaang bilyong piso o anim at kalahating porsyento na lang ng kabuuan ang malaya nating magagamit para sa nalalabing anim na buwan ng taong ito.

Halos isang porsyento na lang po ng kabuuang budget ang natitira para sa bawat buwan.

Saan naman po dinala ang pera?

Naglaan ng dalawang bilyong piso na Calamity Fund bilang paghahanda para sa mga kalamidad na hindi pa nangyayari. Napakaliit na nga po ng pondong ito, ngunit kapapasok pa lang natin sa panahon ng baha at bagyo, 1.4 billion pesos o sitenta porsyento na ang nagastos.

Sa kabuuan ng 108 million pesos para sa lalawigan ng Pampanga, 105 million pesos nito ay napunta sa iisang distrito lamang. Samantala, ang lalawigan ng Pangasinan na sinalanta ng Pepeng ay nakatanggap ng limang milyong piso lamang para sa pinsalang idinulot ng bagyong Cosme, na nangyari noong 2008 pa.

Ibinigay po ang pondo ng Pampanga sa buwan ng eleksyon, pitong buwan pagkatapos ng Ondoy at Pepeng. Paano kung bumagyo bukas? Inubos na ang pondo nito para sa bagyong nangyari noong isang taon pa. Pagbabayaran ng kinabukasan ang kasakiman ng nakaraan.

Ganyan din po ang nangyari sa pondo ng MWSS. Kamakailan lamang, pumipila ang mga tao para lang makakuha ng tubig. Sa kabila nito, minabuti pa ng liderato ng MWSS na magbigay ng gantimpala sa sarili kahit hindi pa nababayaran ang pensyon ng mga retiradong empleyado.

Noong 2009, ang buong payroll ng MWSS ay 51.4 million pesos. Pero hindi lang naman po ito ang sahod nila; may mga additional allowances at benefits pa sila na aabot sa 160.1 million pesos. Sa madaling sabi, nakatanggap sila ng 211.5 million pesos noong nakaraang taon. Beinte-kuwatro porsyento lang nito ang normal na sahod, at sitenta’y sais porsyento ang dagdag.

Ang karaniwang manggagawa hanggang 13th month pay plus cash gift lang ang nakukuha. Sa MWSS, aabot sa katumbas ng mahigit sa tatlumpung buwan ang sahod kasama na ang lahat ng mga bonuses at allowances na nakuha nila.

Mas matindi po ang natuklasan natin sa pasahod ng kanilang Board of Trustees. Tingnan po natin ang mga allowances na tinatanggap nila:

Umupo ka lang sa Board of Trustees at Board Committee meeting, katorse mil na. Aabot ng nobenta’y otso mil ito kada buwan. May grocery incentive pa sila na otsenta mil kada taon.

Hindi lang iyon: may mid-year bonus, productivity bonus, anniversary bonus, year-end bonus, at Financial Assistance. May Christmas bonus na, may Additional Christmas Package pa. Kada isa sa mga ito, nobenta’y otso mil.

Sa suma total po, aabot ang lahat ng dalawa’t kalahating milyong piso kada taon sa bawat miyembro ng Board maliban sa pakotse, technical assistance, at pautang. Uulitin ko po. Lahat ng ito ay ibinibigay nila sa kanilang mga sarili habang hindi pa nababayaran ang mga pensyon ng kanilang mga retirees.

Pati po ang La Mesa Watershed ay hindi nila pinatawad. Para magkaroon ng tamang supply ng tubig, kailangang alagaan ang mga watershed. Sa watershed, puno ang kailangan. Pati po iyon na dapat puno ang nakatayo, tinayuan nila ng bahay para sa matataas na opisyal ng MWSS.

Hindi naman sila agad maaalis sa puwesto dahil kabilang sila sa mga Midnight Appointees ni dating Pangulong Arroyo. Iniimbestigahan na natin ang lahat nang ito. Kung mayroon pa silang kahit kaunting hiya na natitira – sana kusa na lang silang magbitiw sa puwesto.

Pag-usapan naman po natin ang pondo para sa imprastruktura. Tumukoy ang DPWH ng dalawandaan apatnapu’t anim na priority safety projects na popondohan ng Motor Vehicle Users Charge. Mangangailangan po ito ng budget na 425 million pesos.

Ang pinondohan po, dalawampu’t walong proyekto lang. Kinalimutan po ang dalawandaan at labing walong proyekto at pinalitan ng pitumpung proyekto na wala naman sa plano. Ang hininging 425 million pesos, naging 480 million pesos pa, lumaki lalo dahil sa mga proyektong sa piling-piling mga benepisyaryo lang napunta.

Mga proyekto po itong walang saysay, hindi pinag-aralan at hindi pinaghandaan, kaya parang kabuteng sumusulpot.

Tapos na po ang panahon para dito. Sa administrasyon po natin, walang kota-kota, walang tongpats, ang pera ng taumbayan ay gagastusin para sa taumbayan lamang.

Meron pa po tayong natuklasan. Limang araw bago matapos ang termino ng nakaraang administrasyon, nagpautos silang maglabas ng 3.5 billion pesos para sa rehabilitasyon ng mga nasalanta nina Ondoy at Pepeng.

Walumpu’t anim na proyekto ang paglalaanan dapat nito na hindi na sana idadaan sa public bidding. Labingsiyam sa mga ito na nagkakahalaga ng 981 million pesos ang muntik nang makalusot. Hindi pa nailalabas ang Special Allotment Release Order ay pirmado na ang mga kontrata.

Buti na lang po ay natuklasan at pinigilan ito ni Secretary Rogelio Singson ng DPWH. Ngayon po ay dadaan na ang kabuuan ng 3.5 billion pesos sa tapat na bidding, at magagamit na ang pondo na ito sa pagbibigay ng lingap sa mga nawalan ng tahanan dahil kina Ondoy at Pepeng.

Pag-usapan naman natin ang nangyari sa NAPOCOR. Noong 2001 hanggang 2004, pinilit ng gobyerno ang NAPOCOR na magbenta ng kuryente nang palugi para hindi tumaas ang presyo. Tila ang dahilan: pinaghahandaan na nila ang eleksyon.

Dahil dito, noong 2004, sumagad ang pagkakabaon sa utang ng NAPOCOR. Napilitan ang pambansang gobyerno na sagutin ang dalawandaang bilyong pisong utang nito.

Ang inakala ng taumbayan na natipid nila sa kuryente ay binabayaran din natin mula sa kaban ng bayan. May gastos na tayo sa kuryente, binabayaran pa natin ang dagdag na pagkakautang ng gobyerno.

Kung naging matino ang pag-utang, sana’y nadagdagan ang ating kasiguruhan sa supply ng kuryente. Pero ang desisyon ay ibinatay sa maling pulitika, at hindi sa pangangailangan ng taumbayan. Ang taumbayan, matapos pinagsakripisyo ay lalo pang pinahirapan.

Ganito rin po ang nangyari sa MRT. Sinubukan na namang bilhin ang ating pagmamahal. Pinilit ang operator na panatilihing mababa ang pamasahe.

Hindi tuloy nagampanan ang garantiyang ibinigay sa operator na mababawi nila ang kanilang puhunan. Dahil dito, inutusan ang Landbank at Development Bank of the Philippines na bilhin ang MRT.

Ang pera ng taumbayan, ipinagpalit sa isang naluluging operasyon.

Dumako naman po tayo sa pondo ng NFA.

Noong 2004: 117,000 metric tons ang pagkukulang ng supply ng Pilipinas. Ang binili nila, 900,000 metric tons. Kahit ulitin mo pa ng mahigit pitong beses ang pagkukulang, sobra pa rin ang binili nila.

Noong 2007: 589,000 metric tons ang pagkukulang ng supply sa Pilipinas. Ang binili nila, 1.827 million metric tons. Kahit ulitin mo pa ng mahigit tatlong beses ang pagkukulang, sobra na naman ang binili nila.

Ang masakit nito, dahil sobra-sobra ang binibili nila taun-taon, nabubulok lang pala sa mga kamalig ang bigas, kagaya ng nangyari noong 2008.

Hindi po ba krimen ito, na hinahayaan nilang mabulok ang bigas, sa kabila ng apat na milyong Pilipinong hindi kumakain ng tatlong beses sa isang araw?

Ang resulta nito, umabot na sa 171.6 billion pesos ang utang ng NFA noong Mayo ng taong ito.

Ang tinapon na ito, halos puwede na sanang pondohan ang mga sumusunod:

Ang budget ng buong Hudikatura, na 12.7 billion pesos sa taong ito.

Ang Conditional Cash Transfers para sa susunod na taon, na nagkakahalaga ng 29.6 billion pesos.

Ang lahat ng classroom na kailangan ng ating bansa, na nagkakahalaga ng 130 billion pesos.

Kasuklam-suklam ang kalakarang ito. Pera na, naging bato pa.

Narinig po ninyo kung paano nilustay ang kaban ng bayan. Ang malinaw po sa ngayon: ang anumang pagbabago ay magmumula sa pagsiguro natin na magwawakas na ang pagiging maluho at pagwawaldas.

Kaya nga po mula ngayon: ititigil na natin ang paglulustay sa salapi ng bayan. Tatanggalin natin ang mga proyektong mali.

Ito po ang punto ng tinatawag nating zero-based approach sa ating budget. Ang naging kalakaran po, taun-taon ay inuulit lamang ang budget na puno ng tagas. Dadagdagan lang nang konti, puwede na.

Sa susunod na buwan ay maghahain tayo ng budget na kumikilala nang tama sa mga problema, at magtutuon din ng pansin sa tamang solusyon.

Ilan lang ito sa mga natuklasan nating problema. Heto naman po ang ilang halimbawa ng mga hakbang na ginagawa natin.

Nandiyan po ang kaso ng isang may-ari ng sanglaan. Bumili siya ng sasakyang tinatayang nasa dalawampu’t anim na milyong piso ang halaga.

Kung kaya mong bumili ng Lamborghini, bakit hindi mo kayang magbayad ng buwis?

Nasampahan na po ito ng kaso. Sa pangunguna nina Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, BIR Commissioner Kim Henares at Customs Commissioner Lito Alvarez, bawat linggo po ay may bago tayong kasong isinasampa kontra sa mga smuggler at sa mga hindi nagbabayad ng tamang buwis.

Natukoy na rin po ang salarin sa mga kaso nina Francisco Baldomero, Jose Daguio at Miguel Belen, tatlo sa anim na insidente ng extralegal killings mula nang umupo tayo.

Singkuwenta porsyento po ng mga insidente ng extralegal killings ang patungo na sa kanilang resolusyon.

Ang natitira pong kalahati ay hindi natin tatantanan ang pag-usig hanggang makamit ang katarungan.

Pananagutin natin ang mga mamamatay-tao. Pananagutin din natin ang mga corrupt sa gobyerno.

Nagsimula nang mabuo ang ating Truth Commission, sa pangunguna ni dating Chief Justice Hilario Davide. Hahanapin natin ang katotohanan sa mga nangyari diumanong katiwalian noong nakaraang siyam na taon.

Sa loob ng linggong ito, pipirmahan ko ang kauna-unahang Executive Order na nagtatalaga sa pagbuo nitong Truth Commission.

Kung ang sagot sa kawalan ng katarungan ay pananagutan, ang sagot naman sa kakulangan natin sa pondo ay mga makabago at malikhaing paraan para tugunan ang mga pagkatagal-tagal nang problema.

Napakarami po ng ating pangangailangan: mula sa edukasyon, imprastruktura, pangkalusugan, pangangailangan ng militar at kapulisan, at marami pang iba. Hindi kakasya ang pondo para mapunan ang lahat ng ito.

Kahit gaano po kalaki ang kakulangan para mapunan ang mga listahan ng ating pangangailangan, ganado pa rin ako dahil marami nang nagpakita ng panibagong interes at kumpyansa sa Pilipinas.

Ito ang magiging solusyon: mga Public-Private Partnerships. Kahit wala pa pong pirmahang nangyayari dito, masasabi kong maganda ang magiging bunga ng maraming usapin ukol dito.

May mga nagpakita na po ng interes, gustong magtayo ng expressway na mula Maynila, tatahak ng Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, hanggang sa dulo ng Cagayan Valley nang hindi gugugol ang estado kahit na po piso.

Sa larangan ng ating Sandatahang Lakas:

Mayroon po tayong 36,000 nautical miles ng baybayin. Ang mayroon lamang tayo: tatlumpu’t dalawang barko. Itong mga barkong ito, panahon pa ni MacArthur.

May nagmungkahi sa atin, ito ang proposisyon: uupahan po nila ang headquarters ng Navy sa Roxas Boulevard at ang Naval Station sa Fort Bonifacio.

Sagot po nila ang paglipat ng Navy Headquarters sa Camp Aguinaldo. Agaran, bibigyan tayo ng isandaang milyong dolyar. At dagdag pa sa lahat nang iyan, magsusubi pa sila sa atin ng kita mula sa mga negosyong itatayo nila sa uupahan nilang lupa.

Sa madali pong sabi: Makukuha natin ang kailangan natin, hindi tatayo gagastos, kikita pa tayo.

Marami na pong nag-alok at nagmungkahi sa atin, mula lokal hanggang dayuhang negosyante, na magpuno ng iba’t ibang pangangailangan.

Mula sa mga public-private partnerships na ito, lalago ang ating ekonomiya, at bawat Pilipino makikinabang. Napakaraming sektor na matutulungan nito.

Maipapatayo na po ang imprastrukturang kailangan natin para palaguin ang turismo.

Sa agrikultura, makapagtatayo na tayo ng mga grains terminals, refrigeration facilities, maayos na road networks at post-harvest facilities.

Kung maisasaayos natin ang ating food supply chain sa tulong ng pribadong sektor, sa halip na mag-angkat tayo ay maari na sana tayong mangarap na mag-supply sa pandaigdigang merkado.

Kung maitatayo ang minumungkahi sa ating railway system, bababa ang presyo ng bilihin. Mas mura, mas mabilis, mas maginhawa, at makakaiwas pa sa kotong cops at mga kumokotong na rebelde ang mga bumibiyahe.

Paalala lang po: una sa ating plataporma ang paglikha ng mga trabaho, at nanggagaling ang trabaho sa paglago ng industriya. Lalago lamang ang industriya kung gagawin nating mas malinis, mas mabilis, at mas maginhawa ang proseso para sa mga gustong magnegosyo.

Pabibilisin natin ang proseso ng mga proyektong sumasailalim sa Build-Operate-Transfer. Sa tulong ng lahat ng sangay ng gobyerno at ng mga mamamayan, pabababain natin sa anim na buwan ang proseso na noon ay inaabot ng taon kung hindi dekada.

May mga hakbang na rin pong sinisimulan ang DTI, sa pamumuno ni Secretary Gregory Domingo:

Ang walang-katapusang pabalik-balik sa proseso ng pagrehistro ng pangalan ng kumpanya, na kada dalaw ay umaabot ng apat hanggang walong oras, ibababa na natin sa labinlimang minuto.

Ang dating listahan ng tatlumpu’t anim na dokumento, ibababa natin sa anim. Ang dating walong pahinang application form, ibababa natin sa isang pahina.

Nananawagan ako sa ating mga LGUs. Habang naghahanap tayo ng paraan para gawing mas mabilis ang pagbubukas ng mga negosyo, pag-aralan din sana nila ang kanilang mga proseso. Kailangan itong gawing mas mabilis, at kailangan itong itugma sa mga sinisumulan nating reporma.

Negosyante, sundalo, rebelde, at karaniwang Pilipino, lahat po makikinabang dito. Basta po hindi dehado ang Pilipino, papasukin po natin lahat iyan. Kailangan na po nating simulan ang pagtutulungan para makamit ito. Huwag nating pahirapan ang isa’t isa.

Parating na po ang panahon na hindi na natin kailangang mamili sa pagitan ng seguridad ng ating mamamayan o sa kinabukasan ng inyong mga anak.

Oras na maipatupad ang public-private partnerships na ito, mapopondohan ang mga serbisyong panlipunan, alinsunod sa ating plataporma.

Magkakapondo na po para maipatupad ang mga plano natin sa edukasyon.

Mapapalawak natin ang basic education cycle mula sa napakaikling sampung taon tungo sa global standard na labindalawang taon.

Madadagdagan natin ang mga classroom. Mapopondohan natin ang service contracting sa ilalim ng GASTPE.

Pati ang conditional cash transfers, na magbabawas ng pabigat sa bulsa ng mga pamilya, madadagdan na rin ng pondo.

Maipapatupad ang plano natin sa PhilHealth.

Una, tutukuyin natin ang tunay na bilang ng mga nangangailangan nito. Sa ngayon, hindi magkakatugma ang datos. Sabi ng PhilHealth sa isang bibig, walumpu’t pitong porsyento na raw ang merong coverage. Sa kabilang bibig naman, singkuwenta’y tres porsyento naman. Ayon naman sa National Statistics Office, tatlumpu’t walong porsyento ang may coverage.

Ngayon pa lang, kumikilos na si Secretary Dinky Soliman at ang DSWD upang ipatupad ang National Household Targetting System, na magtutukoy sa mga pamilyang higit na nagangailangan ng tulong. Tinatayang siyam na bilyon ang kailangan para mabigyan ng PhilHealth ang limang milyong pinakamaralitang pamilyang Pilipino.

Napakaganda po ng hinaharap natin. Kasama na po natin ang pribadong sektor, at kasama na rin natin ang League of Provinces, sa pangunguna nina Governor Alfonso Umali kasama sina Governor L-Ray Villafuerte at Governor Icot Petilla. Handa na pong makipagtulungan para makibahagi sa pagtustos ng mga gastusin. Alam ko rin pong hindi magpapahuli ang League of Cities sa pangunguna ni Mayor Oscar Rodriguez.

Kung ang mga gobyernong lokal ay nakikiramay na sa ating mga adhikain, ang Kongreso namang pinanggalingan ko, siguro naman maasahan ko din.

Nagpakitang-gilas na po ang gabinete sa pagtukoy ng ating mga problema at sa paglulunsad ng mga solusyon sa loob lamang ng tatlong linggo.

Nang bagyo pong Basyang, ang sabi sa atin ng mga may prangkisa sa kuryente, apat na araw na walang kuryente. Dahil sa mabilis na pagkilos ni Secretary Rene Almendras at ng Department of Energy, naibalik ang kuryente sa halos lahat sa loob lamang ng beinte-kwatro oras.

Ito pong sinasabing kakulangan sa tubig sa Metro Manila, kinilusan agad ni Secretary Rogelio Singson at ng DPWH. Hindi na siya naghintay ng utos, kaya nabawasan ang perwisyo.

Nakita na rin natin ang gilas ng mga hinirang nating makatulong sa Gabinete. Makatuwiran naman po sigurong umasa na hindi na sila padadaanin sa butas ng karayom para makumpirma ng Commission on Appointments. Kung mangyayari po ito, marami pa sa mga mahuhusay na Pilipino ang maeengganyong magsilbi sa gobyerno.

Sa lalong madaling panahon po, uupo na tayo sa LEDAC at pag-uusapan ang mga mahahalagang batas na kailangan nating ipasa. Makakaasa kayo na mananatiling bukas ang aking isipan, at ang ating ugnayan ay mananatiling tapat.

Isinusulong po natin ang Fiscal Responsibility Bill, kung saan hindi tayo magpapasa ng batas na mangangailangan ng pondo kung hindi pa natukoy ang panggagalingan nito. May 104.1 billion pesos tayong kailangan para pondohan ang mga batas na naipasa na, ngunit hindi maipatupad.

Kailangan din nating isaayos ang mga insentibong piskal na ibinigay noong nakaraan. Ngayong naghihigpit tayo ng sinturon, kailangang balikan kung alin sa mga ito ang dapat manatili at kung ano ang dapat nang itigil.

Huwag po tayong pumayag na magkaroon ng isa pang NBN-ZTE. Sa lokal man o dayuhan manggagaling ang pondo, dapat dumaan ito sa tamang proseso. Hinihingi ko po ang tulong ninyo upang amiyendahan ang ating Procurement Law.

Ayon po sa Saligang Batas, tungkulin ng estado ang siguruhing walang lamangan sa merkado. Bawal ang monopolya, bawal ang mga cartel na sasakal sa kumpetisyon. Kailangan po natin ng isang Anti-Trust Law na magbibigay-buhay sa mga prinsipyong ito. Ito ang magbibigay ng pagkakataon sa mga Small- at Medium-scale Enterprises na makilahok at tumulong sa paglago ng ating ekonomiya.

Ipasa na po natin ang National Land Use Bill.

Una rin pong naging batas ng Commonwealth ang National Defense Act, na ipinasa noon pang 1935. Kailangan nang palitan ito ng batas na tutugon sa pangangailangan ng pambansang seguridad sa kasalukuyan.

Nakikiusap po akong isulong ang Whistleblower’s Bill upang patuloy nang iwaksi ang kultura ng takot at pananahimik.

Palalakasin pa lalo ang Witness Protection Program. Alalahanin po natin na noong taong 2009 hanggang 2010, may nahatulan sa 95% ng mga kaso kung saan may witness na sumailalim sa programang ito.

Kailangang repasuhin ang ating mga batas. Nanawagan po akong umpisahan na ang rekodipikasyon ng ating mga batas, upang siguruhing magkakatugma sila at hindi salu-salungat.

Ito pong mga batas na ito ang batayan ng kaayusan, ngunit ang pundasyon ng lahat ng ginagawa natin ay ang prinsipyong wala tayong mararating kung walang kapayapaan at katahimikan.

Dalawa ang hinaharap nating suliranin sa usapin ng kapayapaan: ang situwasyon sa Mindanao, at ang patuloy na pag-aaklas ng CPP-NPA-NDF.

Tungkol sa situwasyon sa Mindanao: Hindi po nagbabago ang ating pananaw. Mararating lamang ang kapayapaan at katahimikan kung mag-uusap ang lahat ng apektado: Moro, Lumad, at Kristiyano. Inatasan na natin si Dean Marvic Leonen na mangasiwa sa ginagawa nating pakikipag-usap sa MILF.

Iiwasan natin ang mga pagkakamaling nangyari sa nakaraang administrasyon, kung saan binulaga na lang ang mga mamamayan ng Mindanao. Hindi tayo puwedeng magbulag-bulagan sa mga dudang may kulay ng pulitika ang proseso, at hindi ang kapakanan ng taumbayan ang tanging interes.

Kinikilala natin ang mga hakbang na ginagawa ng MILF sa pamamagitan ng pagdidisplina sa kanilang hanay. Inaasahan natin na muling magsisimula ang negosasyon pagkatapos ng Ramadan.

Tungkol naman po sa CPP-NPA-NDF: handa na ba kayong maglaan ng kongkretong mungkahi, sa halip na pawang batikos lamang?

Kung kapayapaan din ang hangad ninyo, handa po kami sa malawakang tigil-putukan. Mag-usap tayo.

Mahirap magsimula ang usapan habang mayroon pang amoy ng pulbura sa hangin. Nananawagan ako: huwag po natin hayaang masayang ang napakagandang pagkakataong ito upang magtipon sa ilalim ng iisang adhikain.

Kapayapaan at katahimikan po ang pundasyon ng kaunlaran. Habang nagpapatuloy ang barilan, patuloy din ang pagkakagapos natin sa kahirapan.

Dapat din po nating mabatid: ito ay panahon ng sakripisyo. At ang sakripisyong ito ay magiging puhunan para sa ating kinabukasan. Kaakibat ng ating mga karapatan at kalayaan ay ang tungkulin natin sa kapwa at sa bayan.

Inaasahan ko po ang ating mga kaibigan sa media, lalo na sa radyo at sa print, sa mga nagbablock-time, at sa community newspapers, kayo na po mismo ang magbantay sa inyong hanay.

Mabigyang-buhay sana ang mga batayang prinsipyo ng inyong bokasyon: ang magbigay-linaw sa mahahalagang isyu; ang maging patas at makatotohanan, at ang itaas ang antas ng pampublikong diskurso.

Tungkulin po ng bawat Pilipino na tutukan ang mga pinunong tayo rin naman ang nagluklok sa puwesto. Humakbang mula sa pakikialam tungo sa pakikilahok. Dahil ang nakikialam, walang-hanggan ang reklamo. Ang nakikilahok, nakikibahagi sa solusyon.

Napakatagal na pong namamayani ang pananaw na ang susi sa asenso ay ang intindihin ang sarili kaysa intindihin ang kapwa. Malinaw po sa akin: paano tayo aasenso habang nilalamangan ang kapwa?

Ang hindi nabigyan ng pagkakataong mag-aral, paanong makakakuha ng trabaho? Kung walang trabaho, paanong magiging konsumer? Paanong mag-iimpok sa bangko?

Ngunit kung babaliktarin natin ang pananaw—kung iisipin nating “Dadagdagan ko ang kakayahan ng aking kapwa"—magbubunga po ito, at ang lahat ay magkakaroon ng pagkakataon.

Maganda na po ang nasimulan natin. At mas lalong maganda po ang mararating natin. Ngunit huwag nating kalimutan na mayroong mga nagnanasang hindi tayo magtagumpay. Dahil kapag hindi tayo nagtagumpay, makakabalik na naman sila sa kapangyarihan, at sa pagsasamantala sa taumbayan.

Akin pong paniwala na Diyos at taumbayan ang nagdala sa ating kinalalagyan ngayon. Habang nakatutok tayo sa kapakanan ng ating kapwa, bendisyon at patnubay ay tiyak na maaasahan natin sa Poong Maykapal. At kapag nanalig tayo na ang kasangga natin ay ang Diyos, mayroon ba tayong hindi kakayanin?

Ang mandato nating nakuha sa huling eleksyon ay patunay na umaasa pa rin ang Pilipino sa pagbabago. Iba na talaga ang situwasyon. Puwede na muling mangarap. Tayo nang tumungo sa katuparan ng ating mga pinangarap.

My angel and I haven't really got the chance to celebrate our nine years of togetherness. I'm on an emergency leave last Wednesday because of typhoon Basyang. We had our dinner together at Kenny Rogers last Friday. And to have a little something, a celebration of sort, we watched Inception last Sunday.

I had been hearing a lot of positive feedback regarding this movie. Advices flood Facebook statuses of friends telling you to pay attention, otherwise you'll get lost. Another one advices to watch it on a movie house where you can watch it over again. Pretty much intriguing.

And yes, from the onset of the movie, you really should not take your eyes off the screen. I must say that the writer of this film had a very wild (or a very deep) imagination. Imagine planting an idea into the mind of someone else through dreams. And yes, not just dreams; but dream within a dream within a dream. The idea of this author is very unique. Thumbs up to that. A really good watch. Indeed, worth watching over again (to fully understand the film).

A lot of questions had been instilled in my mind (still). Would love to watch it over again. But for an illustrated guide, you might want to check Cinema Blend.

Nine Years of Togetherness

My angel and I celebrated our nine years anniversary as couples (boyfriend-girlfriend) last Wednesday. However, we did not plan any activity on that day. In fact, we were not able to meet because of Typhoon Basyang that hit the country. Well, it’s not that we don’t celebrate our anniversary anymore after being together for a long nine years. It’s just that, we planned to have our celebration today, Friday.

Our plan is just to go and watch a movie after office. My choice was to watch Inception, subjected to his approval, of course. Then, we will be eating dinner at The Old Spaghetti House after. A simple quality time together, that makes our day.

To squeeze a little sprinkle of love and sweetness, I drop by the mall yesterday to buy an anniversary card. I know, I know, cards seem to be obsolete nowadays. But hey, that personal touch, plus the effort you put into picking the best card matters. And most of the time, it is most appreciated.

I had a little hard time choosing the card that will fit what I really wanted to say. I found one that has the sweet things to say to your girlfriend (in my case, boyfriend), but did not like the design. As a result, I bought another card, and have the sweet message of the other card written on it, hee hee.

I can’t wait for our celebration later. More years of togetherness, thanks God!

The Karate Kid

Last week, when I'm on my way to the office, the bus I am riding is showing "The Karate Kid" 2010 movie. I was not able to watch it from the beginning though, as well some stills from the middle for there were passengers standing that's blocking me. And just when you cannot get off from your feet, I already had to alight the bus.

Good thing, I was able to watch the movie last Saturday.

I can't help myself but to admire this young Dre Parker (portrayed by Jaden Smith). He's cute right? And he acts brilliantly. He acts naturally - with heart. It is a real good movie (or shall I say best?). In fact, I would want to watch it over again. I really do.

The "Kung-Fu" element is admirable. I love the stunts. How I wish I have that flexible body and firm muscles to do Kung Fu.

Action pack, a little drama, and a little comedy too does it right for the movie.

The movie might have been put on the sideline because of the movie "Eclipse: The Twilight Saga". Well, I had watched both, and if I would be forced to choose which movie to watch, I'd dearly reply "The Karate Kid". Pardon me Twilight fanatics, but I personally think that this movie is way better to watch (though I'm a Jacob Black fan, myself - and a little bit of Jasper too, ha ha).

Do I really have to rate this? I'd give it a perfect score. Really, wanna watch this over again.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

While a number of Filipino's attention is on the Inauguration of President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, my family and I were busy preparing to watch the first day screening of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

In the first installment (Twilight), I am not really thrilled by it. Seems like something's missing. Most probably I've been comparing it with Harry Potter. BUT, on the second installment, I lose my sanity over Jacob Black. Thus, in this third (and second to the last installment), I am really not after Edward Cullen's character but on Jacob's.

Upon arriving at TriNoMa, you'll be welcomed by a number of people falling in line to get movie tickets. Good thing, my cousin already reserved tickets last Saturday for the 1:45PM schedule. Otherwise, we would just disappoint ourselves with this crowd.

Let me go straight with the movie review. Yesterday, I am still on contemplation on which saga is better, New Moon or Eclipse. But based on the actions and the depth of the story, Eclipse won. I just love how the vampires (Cullens) and the werewolves (Jacob's tribe) join hands to protect the very lucky Bella Swan. The flashbacks on how each Cullen become a vampire contributes to my judgment too - together with the history of Jacob's tribe.

For the technical aspects, I find a part or two of the film a little shaky, when it should be not. I even looked up to see if someone had been moving it or not.

The best part (at least for me) is when Jacob tell Edward, "Let's face it, I'm hotter than you!" That made the audience at the movie house applaud Jacob. He is, indeed, hotter than Edward.

These romantic quotes startled me as well:

Can't wait for the final installment of the movie. But for now, I am waiting for the next Harry Potter movie :)

Before I start, let me proclaim that I am not a know-all in the field of politics. Here, I am just giving my point of view based on my personal opinion as fed by the news I've seen on national television. Pardon me and I stand corrected come that I failed to please you.

Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay, in two (2) days, will hold the second highest position in the Philippine Government - Vice President. I did not vote for him, I voted for Mar Roxas. But he won, and I have to accept it. As a Filipino, who dearly loves the land, I won't make it hard for VP Binay (and I don't have the power to do so anyway). I'll just live my life as a law-abiding Filipino citizen who'll support the government; but would not connive with their wrongdoings.

The talk of the town recently is the completion of the list of cabinet members of President-Elect Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III. I heard that he had been eying VP Binay to hold a certain cabinet position; but he (VP Binay) humbly said NO.

It maybe hard for VP Binay to have a president that is not his running-mate. The same is true with Pres. Noynoy. But Pres. Noynoy now acknowledges the truth that Roxas won't be his VP; thus making a move at including VP Binay to take part in his administration - and hopefully join hands with him as they live with the promises they had during the campaign period. But why does VP Binay closes his doors to Pres. Noynoy's open hands? Wouldn't it be nice to see that our country leaders unite for a common good?

I even heard from the news that he (VP Binay) is challenging Pres. Noynoy to live up to his promises once he take the seat and start it with the would-be toll fee increase in the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX). While it is the responsibility of Pres. Noynoy to deal with that; I believe it is more proper for VP Binay to not challenge his president but to give him a hand.

It just seem that VP Binay is considering Pres. Noynoy as his rival - which is very unhealthy. I hope he could have a change of heart and mind.

A couple of weeks ago, my angel and I together with his officemates watch the movie, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time at SM City North EDSA, The Block.

I really don't know the story about this movie. I just know that I played this game a couple of times from my old phone. And another, I know this movie is the talk of the town. So there, with popcorn in my arms, I watched vividly.

I must say that the movie caught me in surprise. I really love the story. The characters had portrayed their role brilliantly. I just cannot comprehend the role of the demon-from-The-Passion-of-the-Christ-look-a-like.

Tamina looks familiar. I whispered to my angel, "She's the love interest of Perseus in the Clash of the Titans movie." And indeed, she is that same girl. She's lovely. She has the face of a goddess.

Barbie in "A Christmas Carol"

I am on sick leave yesterday for I had a severe headache that I ruled it to be a migraine. It was so painful and I am feeling like vomiting whenever I move. I decided to take the day off and rest. I guess even if my mind tells me that I am strong and that I could still carry a day's toil; my body is weak that I really had to recharge.

After lunch, my brother and her daughter watched Barbie in "A Christmas Carol". Since I don't want to sleep yet (I've been sleeping a lot already), I watched with them.

The story is about a star named Eden who hates Christmas. Although she sang Christmas carols on her shows, she hates it. The problem arise when she would not let her bestfriend (Emma) and her employees to have a holiday that Christmas season. Everyone is expecting to be celebrating their Christmas with their families, but with Eden's cruelty, she won't allow them to and asked them to report to work the following morning (Christmas Day). I can't blame her for she was raised by her aunt that way. What she knew was, "In this selfish world, only the selfish succeeds".

That night, her aunt came to her as a ghost telling her that letting her grow that way was a mistake. Of course she did not believe it at the onset. Her aunt left her and told her that three spirits would be visiting her - hoping that it would change her point of view. The three spirits happen to be the past, the present, and the future. All three brought her to the Christmas Days of the past, the present, and the future. That made her realize of her mistake.

Okay, I don't want to story tell everything here. Just a realization, these cartoons that are meant for kids are, most of the times, worth to watch for us adults.

I am quite intrigued with this movie for my cousin asked me to watch it on the big screen. But with our schedules not matching, we failed to watch it. However, after doing our part of being a Filipino last May 10, 2010, we finally got the chance to watch it at home with my brother and Stephanie.

The story is about a fairytale-like love story where two persons (John and Savannah) fall in love after two weeks of acquaintance and continue to love each other despite a long distance affair that they had. And the only thing that binds them together after a year of separation is through snail mails. I guess being apart provides them a number of things to discuss and share, making them enthusiastic in receiving letter from each other.

The problem arise when John came back to Savannah after a year. Just when Savannah thought that they'd be living happily ever after; John need to be away for two more years. That left Savannah broken. But still, she allowed him to go and promised to be waiting for two more years. However, she fall short of her promise and married someone else due to an unavoidable circumstance. However, for me, that was unreasonable. That was my opinion. Do watch the movie, and let me know yours.

Anyway, the scene that made me cry is when John made a note for his father and read it to him while they were at the hospital. Men do have tender hearts.

Alice in Wonderland (2010)

After witnessing Pulilan Town Fiesta's parade of the kneeling carabaos, my family take some quality time and watched Alice in Wonderland (2010) at our living area.

Alice's character is of strong personality. She is someone who does not simply go on with the flow. She stands firmly for what she believes in and she takes a stand in every decision that she made. She felt a little bit bothered for she had been dreaming of the same nightmare for years(?). Only to find out that is not merely a dream, but a reconnection of her memory of the past.

With the way the movie unfolds each scene, I am beginning to realize that it is worth watching on a 3D. Really, Alice in Wonderland is not a mere movie for the kids alone. We all have something to ponder in every fairy tale of sort.

I love how the Red Queen portrays her role. She perfectly acts as someone who needs love but thought that love could be gained through fear.

This is a must watch for every individual who still had a kid in their hearts. I believe everyone still has. So let me end this post with a quote from the movie:

Failure of Elections?

Two days from now, we all (I hope so) will perform our rights to vote. I don't know if I am being fair to myself and to the country; but I just cannot vote for the one I think I want to govern the land; rather, I am voting for the greatest rival (a sure win if I must say) of the one whom I don't want to win. To make it clear, on Monday, May 11, 2010, I will be shading the oval beside Noynoy Aquino's name; simply because, I don't want Manny Villar to win. But provided that Villar won't be running for the presidency, I might have a change of mind and vote for Dick Gordon instead.

Anyhow, with the developments I am recently hearing from the news, I am really fearing that there would be 'Failure of Elections' come Monday.

During the testing of the automated elections, SMARTMATIC and COMELEC boasted to have it successfully tested. But I got my eyebrows meet when the ballot orientation they tested was crosswise and the one that we'll be using on Monday will on lengthwise. Now, on the delivery of these PCOS machines with their configured CF cards, a major error had been encountered that is rooted with the wrong printing [with double spaces] for the local positions.

Really, I don't know how they are going to attend to these and make the nation calm and rest assured that the newly configured CF cards would read and cast our votes to whom we really wanted to lead us. There are still a number of scenarios I wanted to raise here on my post; but okay, let's give COMELEC a chance to perform their duties well. I just can't wait on Monday to have my doubts cleared.

While he had cleared to me that Revilla could be a guest candidate in one of his two parties; I still have that confusion on where could Revilla's loyalty be. I mean, who will he be voting for the Presidency? Fact is, he could have the votes of both parties [to complete the twelve (12) slots of the Senatoriables]; but for me, I won't dare shade the oval adjacent to his name. Same is true with other Senatoriables who were running under more than one party [like Miriam Defensor Santiago].

I am not really a fanatic of teleserye nor an avid viewer of any TV show. My last was the Stairway to Heaven [the real one and not the Philippine adaptation which I believe failed to give justice to the original story]. But I happen to watch Claudine, a self-titled anthology in the Kapuso Network.

Normally, I would be bored in a show that I don't usually watch; but with last Saturday's episode, I grew interested.

The story could be likened to 'The Notebook'. But this time, it was the man who lost his memory and added more spice for he lost it at an early stage.

Okay, I won't story-tell the whole episode here. I just wanted to share that I liked the first episode. A thumbs up! What's your thoughts?

The Passion of the Christ: Never Too Late

Part of the Church activity in my angel's was watching the movie "The Passion of the Christ" by Mel Gibson last Wednesday of the Holy Week. Since Maundy Thursday was a holiday, I spent the night there and watched it [for the 3^rd time].

I don't know why, but similar to the movies that I watched frequently, the movie made my cry for the n^th time. Each and every pain that Jesus had undergone made me wanna utter, "My Lord". Indeed, this one's an eye-opener for me for I never imagined that Jesus' Way of the Cross is that morbid. Blood literally covered His body. And I just can't imagine how one can punish someone with that degree.

I felt something had pinched my heart then. Everyone should witness the film in order to awaken each and everyone's hearts and minds on the reality: on how Jesus made His Way to the Cross for our Salvation. May we all be the thief who asked Jesus to remember him when He was already reigning in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Earth Hour 2010

Where were you last Saturday, March 27, 2010, at exactly 8:30 in the evening? Do you know that it is actually the official time of the Earth Hour?

Earth Hour is an international event organized by the WWF (World Wildlife Fund), and held on the last Saturday of March each year, which asks households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. Earth hour was conceived by WWF Greenwich CT and the Sydney Morning Herald in 2007, when 2.2 million residents of Sydney participated by turning off all non-essential lights. Following Sydney's lead, many other cities around the world adopted the event in 2008.

Have you participated in the event that aims at taking action towards climate change? Indeed, you may think that turning off the unnecessary lights for 60 minutes won't do any significant change in the environment. But, when each and every household participate in this activity, I assure you, your 60 minutes could save our Mother Earth.

Last year, I participated in the Earth Hour together with my family. [See more of the story here.] This year, I spent it with my angel at SM City Marilao. We received invites of the said event and had the pleasure of joining it.

The ceremony was participated by the students and teachers of Sophia School of Valenzuela City [I presume]. I am specifically touched by the father right beside me who tries to educate his daughter what Earth Hour is all about and how it can help in the climate change.

The program officially started by the singing of the National Anthem lead by a number of employees of the mall, followed briefly by the singing of the town's hymn.

On cue, lights (50%) were turned off [the remaining 50% remained on for security purposes for the mall is still on operation] and candles were lit.

I don't know, but my body hair stands knowing that a lot of people still care for our Mother Earth and are willing to take a share.

And while the lights are off, Sophia School entertained the crowed with their dance presentations [which are all relevant to Mother Earth].

At the end of the program, a freedom wall was provided for the pledges that we would want to share to help saving our only planet.

Of course, I have my pledge.

And am happy that I was able to live with it.

Noah's Ark

I had my early out yesterday for a check-up with my OB at Healthway. After which, I spotted the Noah's Ark at the heart of SM North EDSA, The Block. I am delighted that at the management's little way, they were imparting on each and everyone a part of the many stories from the Bible.

The exhibit shows a number of creatures that were actually moving. It also has a background sound that seems like story telling what has been written on the Bible.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel

I happen to watch the first installment of Alvin and the Chipmunks in a bus together with my brother. I must say that I am delighted with the movie. Not to mention that the chipmunks produces funny sounds.

And then comes their second installment, The Squeakquel. I, once more, happen to watch the film at a bus. I specifically amazed myself with the "Single Ladies" performance of the lady chipmunks. Superb.

On the other side of the story, I love how they imparted the moral of the movie. Popularity is one thing, but brotherhood is another story. I'll be giving this movie a thumbs up! It is sure a good watch and can be enjoyed not only by the kids but by adults too.

I was disappointed with the fight though. I am expecting a fighting Clottey; not a firm defense with the aim of not KTOed; but ultimately losing the fight simply because he does not fight back.

Love Happens

Part of my Valentines Day was spent watching the movie Love Happens that starred Aaron Eckhart (Burke) and Jennifer Aniston (Eloise). I am really not particular with the casts [except if he is Nicolas Cage or Matt Damon]. I watched it because my brother told me that it was a nice movie.

At the onset of the movie, it started with Burke having another showcase of his best-selling book A-Okay which is basically about coping up with a lost love one [may it be your better half, parent, sibling, or child]. He claims that he knows exactly how each and everyone feels for he, himself, lost his wife three (?) years ago. He had been a star.

Some confusion goes with the movie [for me]. Probably because it has no subtitle or the characters speaks a little soft that I could not almost hear it. I specifically began to be mixed up when Burke's father confronted him and the only words that had left me hanging is, "When will you stop lying?" So, everything was a lie? My mind is cooking something. I am thinking that the book is something that he did not write? Or that he really doesn't have a wife who died? For whatever it is, the movie is still a puzzle to be put up together in my mind.

The story continued [and I feel a little boredom for I still can't understand the movie; or I am still stuck with what Burke's father had told him]. I sought after the answer movie long. Most likely, I am anticipating a dramtic climax or revelation only to end up with an almost cliche ending. Although honestly, I had shed a tear, most especially when Burke's father-in-law reassured him that 'it was an accident'. And that all they wanted to do is to grieve with him.

However, I am still not that entertained with the movie. If I would rate it 1-5 [with 5 being the highest]; I would rate it 2.

I first heard this song in the talent portion of the Mr. and Ms. COE (Computer Engineering) back in my Alma Matter (Bulacan State University). I do fall in love with the melody of the song [but never had an mp3 of it].

Being addicted to vidoeke then [until now], I have been singing that song for a number of times. And it will bring laughter to my cousin [Irish] for she is clueless if I am singing the song properly [if I am in tune]. Hence, she searched for the song online and shared it with me.

Isn't it lovely? I asked her last night if I have been singing the song correctly; but I just cannot extract an answer from her, LOL!

While on my way home last night, the bus I'm riding on shows GMA7's 24-Oras. The news at that moment was [I think] the official launching of the campaign period [which is set today, February 9, 2010]. As always, there were questions thrown in each President aspirants which [in most cases] had been answered by throwing dirt on their rivals (competitors) rather than boasting about their accomplishments (if there's any).

I failed to listen (or shall I say, I dare not listen) the answers of everyone after hearing Jamby Madrigal's answer. She wittingly answered by throwing mud at Manny Villar saying that she need not to use children to advertise herself; and that she need not pay 30 million pesos to ask celebrities to endorse her. And I say "WHAT?" As far as I remembered, no one knew her. I mean NO ONE. And she just got the opportunity to seat in the Senate [long ago] just because Judy Ann Santos endorsed her. Duh?! I guess the mud slinged back right in front of her.

*deep breath* Today starts the circus.

Talk N' Text Walks Out With Exactly 1 Minute Left in the First Quarter

This post was late for we all know (that's my assumption) that Barangay Ginebra Kings (BGK) and Purefoods TJ Giants (PF) advances to the Semifinals to compete with the Best-of-7 Series against Alaska Aces and San Miguel Beermen (SMB) respectively.

I was not able to watch Game 4 of the Best-of-5 Quarter Finals Series between the BGK and the Talk N' Text Tropang Texters (TNT). I just made myself posted by checking on PBA Online. And I was really astounded with the note I read from the site that says, "Talk 'N Text walks out with 1 min left in the 1st". For the record, that was the first time that I have heard a franchise walking out from a game.

Being acquainted with the site's owner, I gave him a message via YM and asked what had happened. And let me have the conversation be kept private; nonetheless, those were our opinion of what had transpired. Let me just inform you that the 'walking out' is triggered by the Flagrant Foul Penalty 2 called against Ranidel De Ocampo (TNT) against the driving Ronald Tubid (BGK).

Here's the video of what had happened. I just can't get over how boastful Marc Cardona is. Well, it's his nature anyway, LOL!

In my personal point of view, what Coach Chot Reyes had done is what I call BRAVERY and not otherwise as what BGK fans would have thought. I am also ill stricken with how the PBA officials had been doing on the hard court (the fouls and everything). Well, it was amazing how the other coaches and staff can stand it. But Coach Reyes already reached the maximum stretch of his patience, resulting an unfinished Game 4 (and a PhP500,000 fine).

Coach Reyes had stopped the prolonged silence with the hope of bringing into the consciousness of the present PBA officials the not so nice (dirty) administration of the games. I am hoping, together with Coach Reyes and the whole TNT cast, that Commissioner Sonny Barrios would do a thing regarding this one. I am really on the thought of having these referees be penalized too for whatever inadvertent and game-breaking calls that they have done (and will be doing).

Calling on Com. Barrios, hope this had awakened your sleeping conscience with respect to PBA games.
